Effective Jewish songleading can reach people regardless of age, level of religious observance, or faith background. Everyone comes to Jewish experiences with different expectations; Devin's goal is always to meet people where they are.
Devin's work is on the bleeding edge of Jewish worship and practice. Devin will strive to create rituals that hew toward Halakha (religious law) while taking the critical liberties that make musical, playful Judaism uniquely memorable and engaging.
In the ideal Jewish experience, leaders should slip into the background. Devin's goal is always to move the spotlight off of himself and onto the group.
Devin will always be proactive and thorough in learning and responding to your expectations. He will work with clergy, staff, and family members to create a shared vision that includes a detailed run-of-show. However, Devin will also adapt and respond to any group, even if it means deviating from the plan.
Devin will always communicate about costs clearly and in advance. He will adjust to the needs and resources of your community or family and can work with any budget. Whenever it is possible for him to do so (on the West Coast), Devin will provide amplification for any crowd smaller than 300 people at no additional cost. Devin will do business generously and fairly to keep the focus where it should be.
"Devin was hired as our son’s songleader for his Bar Mitzvah. He brought much more than that to the party. The event was during Covid, and he provided the necessary computer and microphone equipment for a high quality remote viewing experience for our family and friends, while keeping the in person crowd involved and entertained. He produced and edited the resultant video for our records. Devin is very responsible and organized, and a pleasure to plan with. For many attendees, this was their first Bar Mitzvah, and Devin made them feel welcome and comfortable." - Doug Martinsen, Parent
